What is ADVISORY?
Advisory is the "Home Room" assigned to your student. Advisory is held every Monday between periods 2/3 (A days) or 6/7 (B days) from 10:20am to 10:50am. Students receive special announcements or instructions on these days for Northridge happenings. Short informative lessons are taught by the teacher. Topics include concepts designed to help students be successful when they graduate from high school. These topics include communication skills, problem-solving skills, resume writing, and scholarships to name a few.
What is TUTORIAL?
Tutorial is the 30 minute class held Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday between periods 2/3 (A days) or 6/7 (B days) from 10:20am to 10:50am. Students choose to attend any class on their schedule that they may be struggling in or have homework to do or are seeking help from their teacher. Every student is required to attend the 30-minute Tutorial period.
The attendance for both Tutorial and Advisory are marked in the 10th period Advisory spot. At the end of the year a student is issued .25 credits for attendance.
NOTE: We have no control over which teachers class the student chooses to attend during Tutorial. Therefore, if a student is marked absent in Tutorial it is the student's responsibility to speak with the teacher whose class they attended to have the absence removed. The attendance office will not remove the Tutorial absence without the approval of the teacher.
What is HOME RELEASE?
Home Release may be granted to students who are on track for graduation and have more than the required 27 credits. Students who are granted Home Release must leave campus unless they are on official school approved business. This includes the Seminary building and the parking lot.
Student and Parents and Counselor/Administrator sign a Home Release Contract with the specifics relating to Home Release.
*Released Time (Seminary) is NOT Home Release.
Why Student ID Badges?
As a safety protocol, ALL students are required to wear a student identification badge. Badges are to be worn at all times. Students not wearing their ID badge will be sent to the Attendance Office for a temporary badge for the day. Students pay for the temporary badge at the time or may be put on a fine list. If a student has lost their ID, a replacement badge may be purchase in the main office.
Students also use this ID badge to scan in for attendance at the beginning of every class period.
